The West Bengal Medical Council today issued a ‘show cause’ notice to Dr. Sandeep Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Hospital, over allegations of financial irregularities at the institution. This development was confirmed by an official, who indicated that the notice is a preliminary step that could lead to the cancellation of Dr. Ghosh’s medical registration or other disciplinary actions.
The official stated that Dr. Ghosh has been given three days to respond to the notice. In addition to Dr. Ghosh, three other doctors associated with him have been instructed to refrain from participating in any council activities until the allegations against them are thoroughly investigated and potentially disproven. The council has reportedly received multiple complaints regarding these alleged irregularities, prompting this action.
This move by the council highlights the seriousness of the accusations and underscores the importance of accountability within the medical community. The outcome of this inquiry could have significant implications for Dr. Ghosh and his associates, as well as for the broader medical fraternity in West Bengal.
