Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat has announced his retirement following his disqualification from the Olympics. Vinesh was disqualified for being 100 grams over the weight limit in the 50 kg category, which ended his chance at the gold medal. He expressed that he no longer has the strength to continue.
Despite his retirement, Vinesh has filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS), challenging his disqualification. He is seeking to have the decision overturned and is requesting that he be awarded a joint silver medal. This appeal comes as Vinesh continues to fight for justice after the heartbreaking disqualification that ended his Olympic dreams.
