The United States has announced sanctions on 275 individuals and entities, which include 15 Indian nationals, for allegedly supporting Russia’s military-industrial complex amid its conflict with Ukraine. The U.S. Treasury Department stated that these sanctions target entities from several countries, including China, Switzerland, Thailand, and Turkey, which have allegedly supplied advanced technology and equipment to Russia.
Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo emphasized that the U.S. and its allies remain committed to restricting Russia’s access to critical technologies and resources that could bolster its military capabilities. Adeyemo highlighted the sanctions as part of ongoing efforts to stop the “flow of critical equipment and technologies needed by Russia for its illegal and immoral war against Ukraine.”
Alongside these measures, the U.S. has also taken action against defense companies and entities involved in Russia’s future energy production and export plans. These restrictions aim to limit Russia’s ability to sustain its military activities in Ukraine, affecting its defense sector and future energy production capabilities.
The sanctions underline a coordinated global response to Russia’s actions, with continued pressure expected on entities aiding Russia’s military and energy sectors.
