The United States has banned a dozen companies, including an Indian shipping company, Gabbaro Ship Services, on charges of illegally selling Iranian oil in Asian markets. This move comes after Iran launched a missile attack on Israel on October 1.
The US alleges that Gabbaro Ship Services was involved in the illegal transportation of Iranian oil, violating international sanctions. The ban is part of the broader US effort to curb Iran’s oil sales, which are often used to fund activities that destabilize the region.
US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan stated that Iran’s missile attack targeted Tel Aviv, Israel’s most populous city, putting a large number of innocent lives at risk. He emphasized that this aggressive action could have resulted in many casualties.
In response to the attack, the US has warned that Iran will face serious consequences. This includes tightening sanctions and targeting companies involved in illegal dealings with Iran, like Gabbaro Ship Services.
The US continues to hold Iran accountable for its actions and has made clear that it will not tolerate violations of international laws, particularly when they threaten global stability and peace.
