Police have arrested two more individuals linked to the vandalism and arson of MLAs’ houses in the Imphal Valley. With these arrests, the total number of people detained in connection with this case has reached 34. Authorities are actively searching for others involved, a senior official stated.
The incidents occurred on November 16, and investigations are ongoing across multiple locations in the Imphal Valley. Officials confirmed that the violence involved targeted attacks on the properties of elected representatives, and efforts are underway to identify all those responsible.
The unrest in Manipur escalated after a deadly encounter between security forces and suspected Kuki-Zo militants on November 11, in which 10 alleged terrorists were killed. Following this, tensions soared, leading to acts of arson and vandalism.
Additionally, three women and three children from the Meitei community have gone missing since the violence began, adding to the growing unrest in the region. The authorities are prioritizing their safe recovery and ensuring law and order is restored in the valley.
The government has urged citizens to maintain peace and cooperate with law enforcement as efforts continue to address the situation.
