Two bank employees tragically lost their lives after their car got stuck in the waterlogged Old Faridabad railway underpass. The police shared details of the incident, which occurred late Friday night.
The victims, Punyashrey Sharma (48) and Viraj (26), were returning to their home in Greater Faridabad from Gurugram when they ignored warnings and drove into the flooded underpass around 11:50 p.m. Despite efforts by passers-by to rescue them, the car was overwhelmed by deep water.
Viraj died on the spot, while Sharma was rushed to Badshah Khan Civil Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. Officials said that heavy rainfall on Friday had led to waterlogging in the underpass, and authorities had warned drivers not to attempt crossing it. Unfortunately, the SUV 700 the victims were driving entered the underpass, leading to the fatal incident.
Local residents and police made valiant efforts to rescue the victims, but the rapidly rising water made the situation difficult to manage. This incident highlights the dangers of driving through flooded areas despite official warnings, especially during heavy rains.
