Trinamool Congress leader Derek O’Brien reiterated on Friday that there is no shift in the party’s stance to contest all 42 Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal, along with some seats in Assam and one seat in Meghalaya. This statement from TMC comes in the midst of ongoing reports indicating Congress working on finalizing seat-sharing arrangements with the party.

O’Brien, TMC leader in Rajya Sabha, emphasized the consistency in the party’s position, referring to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s announcement weeks ago about TMC’s intent to contest in all 42 seats in Bengal. While affirming this commitment, O’Brien acknowledged ongoing discussions regarding a few seats in Assam and the Tura Lok Sabha seat in Meghalaya. The ruling party TMC in West Bengal has reportedly put forth a demand for two seats in Assam and one in Meghalaya, and these specifics are expected to be finalized shortly.
