A few years ago, Covid-19 had wreaked havoc in the entire world, due to which almost all the countries came under the grip of this disease. Its influence certainly diminished with time, but it did not disappear completely. Due to this, there were changes in this variant during different times which is happening till today. Due to these changes, now another new variant of Corona which has no Flirt has come out. Health experts have expressed concern over the rapid spread of the new variant ‘flirt’ form of Covid-19 as it is spreading rapidly in the US. It is believed to be a trans substitution of amino acids between spike proteins of the virus in relation to growth, as revealed in recent information shared by health experts.
Dubbed the ‘Flirt’, this variant, belonging to Omicron’s ZN.1 lineage, is rapidly changing its appearance in several countries, including the US, UK, New Zealand and South Korea. Although a recent increase in hospitalization rates has been linked to this variant, no deaths have been reported so far with this new variant.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued guidance for intensive surveillance of this form as part of ongoing surveillance efforts. Despite the emergence of new variants, experts assure the public that any omicron lineage, including the FLIRT variant, poses no risk of lung damage like the delta strain. However, constant monitoring and vigilance is vital to stay ahead of potential changes in the virus. In addition, experts caution that the increased use of monoclonal antibodies may contribute to the emergence of mutations. Recognizing the symptoms of new variants, such as sore throat, cough, fatigue, and other omicron subtypes, is essential for early detection and prevention efforts. In light of these developments, health officials emphasize the importance of adherence to preventive measures, including vaccination, to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and its variants.
