The YouTube channel of the Supreme Court of India was hacked on Friday and briefly displayed a video promoting Ripple Labs, an American cryptocurrency company. However, the video did not show any visible content when played. The Supreme Court’s YouTube channel is primarily used for live streaming hearings of important cases listed before the Constitution Bench, as well as matters of public interest.
The incident has raised concerns as the channel plays a crucial role in providing public access to live hearings. In 2018, the Supreme Court made the decision to broadcast all cases heard before the Constitution Bench, ensuring transparency in judicial proceedings. The hacking of the channel is being investigated, and steps are expected to be taken to strengthen the security of the platform to prevent such incidents in the future.
