The Supreme Court has scheduled the hearing for April 16 on petitions challenging the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and Election Commissioners under the new law passed in 2023.
Senior advocate Prashant Bhushan mentioned that the case was listed as item number 38 for the day, making it impossible for a hearing to take place immediately. Following this, a bench comprising Justice Surya Kant and Justice N. Kotiswar Singh decided to take up the matter on April 16.
Bhushan had requested an urgent hearing, arguing that the matter was of national importance. However, Justice Surya Kant stated that while the court understands the concerns, it has many other important cases scheduled daily. The bench assured that all arguments will be heard properly on April 16.
