In a significant development during the hearing of the Patanjali advertisement case, the Supreme Court declared its rejection of the apology affidavit submitted by Ramdev and Patanjali Ayurveda MD Acharya Balakrishna. The apex court, represented by a bench comprising Justice Hima Kohli and Justice Amanatullah, expressed its firm stance, stating, “We cannot be so open-hearted.”
Patanjali’s lawyers, Vipin Sanghi and Mukul Rohatgi, were cautioned by the court, indicating readiness for action due to the deliberate violation of court orders. This decision follows a previous hearing on April 2, during which a similar apology was sought, only to be dismissed by the bench as insincere. The court emphasized the lack of remorse and stated, “You have no sense of forgiveness.”
The Supreme Court’s steadfast response underscores its commitment to upholding judicial directives and ensuring accountability in matters pertaining to advertisement regulations. The case continues to draw attention for its implications on corporate responsibility and adherence to legal mandates.
