Today, the Supreme Court, while hearing petitions related to NEET-UG 2024, directed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to announce the exam results center-wise and city-wise by noon on July 20. The order was issued by a bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud. The court will re-hear the petitions seeking cancellation and re-examination of NEET-UG 2024 on July 22.

The court noted that the question paper leak appeared limited to Patna and Hazaribagh, and refused to re-investigate the matter. It clarified that a re-examination should only occur if the integrity of the exam is compromised, requiring a solid basis for such a decision.

Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, along with Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Mishra, reviewed multiple petitions regarding the controversial medical entrance exam. During the hearing, the Solicitor General reported 15,000 new registrations, of which only 44 out of 1.08 lakh students were admitted to private and government medical colleges. The NTA’s lawyer mentioned that around 12,000 newly registered students failed. The Solicitor General emphasized that the new registrations aimed at student welfare, not benefiting specific individuals.
