On Monday, the Supreme Court granted bail to Ashish Mishra, the son of former Central Minister Ajay Mishra, in connection with the 2021 Lakhimpur Kheri violence case. It is notable that the incident resulted in the death of eight individuals.
Last year, on January 25, the Supreme Court had provided interim bail to Ashish Mishra in the case involving the unfortunate events that occurred during the violence. The bench, consisting of Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan, also granted bail to the farmers involved in the case and directed the lower court to expedite the hearing.
