The Supreme Court has extended by two weeks the deadline for a seven-member expert committee to submit its report on reforms in the NEET-UG examination. This committee, led by former ISRO head K. Radhakrishnan, was constituted by the Center to review and propose improvements to the examination process.
In a formal order issued on August 2, the Supreme Court expanded the committee’s responsibilities to include examining the functioning of the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the NEET-UG exam. The committee is tasked with making the examination process more transparent and corruption-free.
The report will focus on key reforms to enhance fairness and accountability in the NEET-UG exam, a crucial entrance test for medical aspirants in India. The committee’s recommendations are expected to address long-standing concerns about the conduct and integrity of the exam, with the aim of ensuring a more efficient and trustworthy process.
This extension of the deadline reflects the importance of thorough review and analysis to ensure meaningful reforms. The committee will continue its investigation and prepare recommendations to improve the NEET-UG examination system in India.
