The Supreme Court has dismissed a public interest litigation (PIL) alleging that anti-Covid-19 vaccines cause adverse effects, such as blood clot formation. A bench led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, along with Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Mishra, criticized the petition, stating that it was filed only to spread sensation.
The bench remarked, “What is the benefit of this? Understand the side effects of not getting vaccinated. We do not want to hear this, as it is merely intended to create unnecessary fear.”
The petition was filed by Priya Mishra and others, citing claims in certain medical reports that linked Covid-19 vaccinations to heart diseases. However, these claims have been widely refuted, with vaccine manufacturers being given a clean chit globally.
The court emphasized the importance of vaccination and dismissed the concerns raised in the PIL as unfounded and sensationalist.
