After two days of cold weather, the capital enjoyed light sunshine on Monday. The daytime warmth provided relief to people, though the morning and evening still felt quite chilly. Despite the sunshine in the afternoon, the cold returned in the evening, making the weather feel colder once again.
Yellow Alert Issued for Dense Fog on Tuesday
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for dense fog on Tuesday. Most areas are expected to experience dense fog in the morning, which could reduce visibility. Light fog is expected in the evening and night, with the maximum temperature around 19°C and the minimum around 9°C.
Light Rain Expected Later in the Week
The Meteorological Department has predicted light rain on Wednesday and Thursday. This could bring more fog along with a drop in temperature. The rain combined with the fog may increase the cold, making the weather feel even colder. People should be prepared for these changing conditions.
Temperature and Visibility Updates
On Monday, the minimum temperature was recorded at 9.4°C, 2°C higher than usual. In some areas, temperatures dropped to around 8°C. The maximum temperature was 18.5°C, which is 1.4°C lower than the usual average. Visibility was affected in the morning, with Palam Airport recording just 150 meters of visibility from 5 am to 8 am. Safdarjung Airport also had low visibility from 5:30 am to 7 am.
Cold Morning Temperatures Across the City
The cold was most noticeable in the morning. At Ridge, the minimum temperature was recorded at 8.7°C, the lowest among all weather stations. Aya Nagar, Lodi Road, and Aya Nagar saw temperatures between 8°C and 9.6°C. The humidity in the air remained high, between 67% and 100%, contributing to the chilly conditions.
