Residents of Delhi NCR, including Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad, felt strong tremors early Monday morning due to a 4.0 magnitude earthquake. The earthquake was recorded at 5:36 AM, with a depth of five kilometers, as per official reports.
The epicenter was identified near Durgabai Deshmukh College of Special Education in Dhaula Kuan. Officials noted that the area has experienced small earthquakes every few years, with the last significant one in 2015 measuring 3.3 in magnitude. A loud sound was also reported during the tremors.
People living in high-rise buildings rushed outdoors in fear. A woman in Noida’s Sector 20 mentioned that while she did not feel the tremors during her morning walk, others quickly came outside due to the intensity.
Authorities have urged people to stay alert for possible aftershocks and follow safety precautions. Emergency helplines were also shared to assist anyone in need.
Social media users reacted strongly to the tremors, with many describing the experience as intense. Officials continue to monitor the situation, ensuring safety measures are in place. No immediate reports of damage or injuries have been received.
