In a startling turn of events, the Satnampura Phagwara police apprehended Manu Chawla, a self-proclaimed social media journalist, during routine checks on Kotrani road. Chawla, residing in Mohalla Dadla Phagwara Hall, was found in possession of 34 grams of heroin and a motorcycle. The police have filed a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Satnampura police station.
What adds to the intrigue is that Chawla, previously arrested for drug-related offenses, had actively participated in press conferences alongside senior Phagwara Police officials. Surprisingly, despite being aware of the prior case against him, he continued to be associated with police events.
This development raises questions about adherence to protocols, as the Punjab Police’s instructions emphasize strict compliance with rules during official press conferences. The Phagwara incident seemingly contradicts these directives, prompting concerns about the conduct of both the accused and the involved police officers. As the investigation unfolds, the community awaits clarity on the apparent deviation from established procedures.
