Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar has written to Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, requesting a meeting to resolve the concerns of Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) candidates. These candidates protested in Pune last month because the Indian Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) exam and the Maharashtra Gazetted Civil Service Combined Preliminary Exam were both scheduled for August 25, creating a clash. The candidates had requested the postponement of the Maharashtra Gazetted Civil Service exam to avoid this overlap.
Pawar, who had not yet met with the Chief Minister to discuss the issue, highlighted the urgency of the matter. In addition to postponing the exam, Pawar also advocated for bringing 258 posts in the Agriculture Department under the new MPSC preliminary examination. At the time of the protest, Pawar expressed support for the candidates and warned that he would join their struggle if the government failed to address the situation.
Following the protests and Pawar’s intervention, the MPSC postponed the exam and promised to announce new dates soon.
