Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi issued a fervent appeal to the electorate, urging them to vote in defense of democracy and the Constitution, just a day before the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections. In a video message, Gandhi accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of seeking to dismantle democratic institutions and undermine the constitutional framework.
Highlighting the significance of the upcoming elections, Gandhi emphasized that the contest was not merely about political parties but about safeguarding the foundational principles of democracy and constitutional values. He positioned the Congress and its allies as champions defending democracy against the alleged assault by the BJP and its ideological affiliate, the RSS.
Gandhi underscored the collaborative effort behind the Congress manifesto, emphasizing its resonance with the aspirations of the people. He asserted that the manifesto, shaped by interactions with citizens across the country, reflected their voices and priorities.
Taking aim at the economic policies of the Modi government, Gandhi criticized the alleged concentration of wealth in the hands of a few while promising to empower millions of women and youth. He outlined key policy proposals, including a legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers, loan waivers, and a minimum wage of Rs 400 for workers.
In conclusion, Gandhi called upon the electorate to support the Congress and its allies in the upcoming elections, portraying them as the bulwark against authoritarian tendencies and defenders of inclusive governance.
As the electoral battle intensifies, Gandhi’s appeal seeks to galvanize support for the Congress-led alliance, positioning it as the torchbearer of democratic values and inclusive development in the country.
