Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday, highlighting the issue of unemployment in Uttar Pradesh. Gandhi asserted that a ‘double-engine government’ equates to a ‘double whammy’ for the unemployed, addressing the challenges faced by the youth in the state.

In a Hindi post on [Platform X], Gandhi stated that one in three young individuals in Uttar Pradesh is grappling with the ‘disease of unemployment.’ He underscored the severity of the situation, pointing out that over 1.5 lakh government positions remain vacant, even as qualified graduates, post-graduates, and PhD holders compete for positions requiring minimal qualifications.

Gandhi empathized with the frustration of students who, after enduring years of waiting for recruitment in various sectors, find themselves aging out of eligibility. He highlighted the toll on mental health, with students succumbing to despair and depression. Gandhi expressed concern over police actions against protesting students, emphasizing the need for fair policies to address youth aspirations.

Assuring that Congress policies aim to fulfill the dreams of the youth, Gandhi pledged that the party would not let their struggles go unnoticed or unrewarded. The political discourse intensifies as concerns over unemployment take center stage in Uttar Pradesh.
