Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi took to social media to underscore the divergence between the assurances offered by his party and those of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Gandhi asserted that while the Congress guarantees a government for the people of India, with promises of financial assistance to women, employment opportunities for youth, and support for farmers, Modi’s guarantees entail favoring corporate interests and eroding democratic institutions.
In a post on social media platform X, Gandhi delineated the Congress’s commitments, including monthly financial support to women, job opportunities for youth, and statutory Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers. He contrasted this with what he termed as “Modi’s guarantee,” which he alleged prioritizes the interests of corporations, promotes income inequality, and undermines democratic principles.
Gandhi asserted that the difference between the two parties’ guarantees is unmistakable, with the Congress striving to uplift millions of Indians economically, while Modi’s government allegedly benefits a select few. He claimed that Modi is aware that the electoral tide is turning against him, indicating confidence in the Congress’s prospects in the upcoming elections.
As campaigning intensifies, Gandhi’s messaging seeks to crystallize the distinctions between the Congress’s vision for inclusive development and what he perceives as the BJP’s prioritization of corporate interests over the welfare of the masses.
