In the wake of the tragic derailment of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, expressed his heartfelt condolences. Taking to social media, Gandhi conveyed his sorrow over the loss of many lives, stating, “The news of death of many passengers due to derailment of Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh is very sad.”
Gandhi extended his deepest condolences to the bereaved families and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. He also urged Congress workers to provide all possible assistance in the relief and rescue operations, emphasizing the need for community support in times of crisis.
Highlighting a growing concern, Gandhi pointed out the alarming frequency of train accidents in the country. He attributed these incidents to government mismanagement and negligence. “The conversation with the loco pilots a few days ago and the Railway Safety Commissioner’s report on the recent train accidents also make this clear,” he noted.
Calling for immediate action, Gandhi demanded that the government take full responsibility for the accidents and outline a clear strategy to protect passengers and prevent future mishaps. His statement underscores the urgency for improved safety measures and accountability within the Indian Railways.
