Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, launched a scathing attack on the BJP and RSS, accusing them of disrespecting Dr. BR Ambedkar and the Constitution he created. Addressing the ‘Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan’ rally, Gandhi urged Congress workers to safeguard the Constitution from those in power.
He announced that the Congress will conduct a nationwide caste census as soon as it returns to power at the Centre. Gandhi also pledged to abolish the 50% reservation cap and introduce a new law in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha to ensure better representation for marginalized communities.
Gandhi alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would never conduct a caste census and claimed the Dalits, backward classes, tribals, and the poor are being exploited. “Employment opportunities are being destroyed, and the country’s resources are being handed over to a few capitalists,” he said.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also addressed the rally, urging party workers to unite to protect the Constitution. He warned that failure to do so would harm vulnerable communities.
During the rally, Swaran Kaur, sister of BSP founder Kanshi Ram, met Rahul Gandhi and assured him of support in the fight to save the Constitution.
