The Punjab School Education Department has issued stringent directives to government schools following complaints about non-compliance with mid-day meal standards and inaccurate student attendance records. The department highlighted that mid-day meals were not being prepared according to the prescribed menu and student attendance was not being recorded promptly in the designated app, raising concerns about potential discrepancies.
The department mandated that schools must strictly adhere to the weekly menu for mid-day meals and ensure the attendance is accurately recorded based on students’ presence. To enforce compliance, district and block office officers have been instructed to conduct random checks in schools within their jurisdiction. These officers are required to submit monthly reports with their observations to the department.
Any detected violations during inspections will place the responsibility squarely on the school head or the mid-day meal in-charge. This move underscores the department’s commitment to maintaining high standards in school operations and ensuring the well-being and accurate tracking of students.
The directives aim to enhance the accountability and performance of schools, ensuring that essential services like mid-day meals are delivered effectively and transparently.
