The Punjab State Election Commission has announced the dates for the upcoming panchayat elections, scheduled to take place on October 15. Punjab State Election Commissioner Raj Kamal Chaudhary shared this information during a press conference at Punjab Bhavan.
Nominations for the elections can be filed starting from September 27, with the last date for submission set for October 4. Sarpanch candidates are permitted to spend up to Rs 40,000, while panch candidates can spend up to Rs 30,000 for their campaigns.
Chaudhary also noted that there are 1 crore 33 lakh 97 thousand 932 registered voters across 13,241 panchayats in the state, emphasizing the scale and importance of the elections. These elections will play a crucial role in determining local governance and development at the village level.
