In a significant announcement, Sibin C stated that all government offices, boards, corporations, and educational institutions across Punjab will observe a gazetted holiday on June 1. This day has been declared a holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act to facilitate the voting process.
In addition to government entities, the Punjab government has ensured that employees working in industrial establishments, businesses, trades, or any other establishments will also have a paid holiday on June 1. This measure is in accordance with Section 135 B (1) of the Representation of the People Act, enabling all eligible voters to cast their votes without work-related hindrances.
A formal notification regarding this decision has already been issued by the Punjab government, underscoring their commitment to encouraging voter participation in the upcoming elections.
