Punjab Congress President, Amarinder Singh Raja Waring, issued a stark warning in Hoshiarpur, emphasizing the imperative to safeguard the constitution amidst growing concerns over democratic erosion. He asserted that the Congress and its allies are engaged in a battle to preserve the foundational principles of India’s democracy, urging citizens to elect representatives who will uphold constitutional values in the Lok Sabha.
Drawing parallels with authoritarian regimes like China and Korea, Waring cautioned against the stifling of dissenting voices, suggesting a looming threat of dictatorship if democratic norms are not upheld. He accused the BJP government of undermining the constitution drafted by Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, asserting that its abolition would imperil the nation’s stability.
Expressing disdain for party defectors, Waring predicted a backlash from the electorate against turncoats in the upcoming elections. He vowed that those who betray the party’s principles would face resounding defeat at the polls.
In a bid to galvanize support for the Congress candidate in Hoshiarpur, Waring mobilized local leadership to rally behind Yamini Gomar, highlighting the significance of unity in advancing the party’s electoral prospects.
Waring’s remarks underscore the prevailing apprehension regarding democratic backsliding in India, signaling the urgency for citizens to exercise their electoral power to uphold constitutional principles and resist authoritarian tendencies. As political tensions escalate, parties intensify their efforts to mobilize support and consolidate their positions ahead of the crucial Lok Sabha elections.
