In a significant move following the Lok Sabha elections, Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Waring has expelled senior leader and former MLA Darshan Singh Brar from the party. The decision comes in the wake of allegations of anti-party activities against Brar.
Darshan Singh Brar, who has served as the MLA from Baghapurana, was removed from his position in the Punjab Congress unit due to actions deemed detrimental to the party’s interests. The expulsion marks a critical step by the Punjab Congress to address internal dissent and strengthen party discipline.
This is not the first time the Brar family has faced disciplinary action. Previously, Brar’s son was also penalized for similar anti-party conduct. The specific nature of the activities leading to Brar’s expulsion has not been disclosed, but sources within the party suggest that the decision was made after a thorough investigation and deliberation by the party leadership.
Amarinder Singh Raja Waring stated that maintaining party unity and discipline is paramount, especially in the aftermath of the elections. “We cannot tolerate activities that harm the party’s integrity and unity. This action is a message to all members that such behavior will not be accepted,” he said.
The expulsion of Darshan Singh Brar is expected to have significant implications for the political dynamics within the Punjab Congress, as the party aims to consolidate its position and prepare for future electoral challenges.
