In a decisive opening address to the Parliament’s budget session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended greetings with a traditional “Ram-Ram.” Taking the podium, he wasted no time addressing the opposition, urging members prone to disruptive behavior to reflect on their commitment to democratic principles.

The Prime Minister, known for his assertive speeches, asserted that those who habitually disrupt proceedings or flout democratic values must engage in introspection. He emphasized that engaging in hoarding, negativity, and mischievous behavior will not be forgotten by democracy lovers.

Speaking to the media on the session’s inaugural day, Modi highlighted the upcoming parliamentary elections, noting that typically, a complete budget is not presented when elections are imminent. However, he assured the public that under his leadership, the new government, if elected, would bring forth a comprehensive budget.

As this marks the final session of the current Lok Sabha before the looming elections, the Prime Minister underscored the significance of this juncture. He stated that this session serves as an opportunity for repentance for those engaging in disruptive behavior or fostering negativity.

The Prime Minister’s comments were not without criticism, with opposition parties quick to respond. Some labeled his remarks as an attempt to stifle dissent, while others accused him of deflecting attention from crucial issues facing the nation. Nevertheless, Modi remained steadfast in his message, urging all parliamentarians to focus on constructive debate for the greater good.

This budget session is set to commence with a joint meeting of both houses of Parliament, where President Draupadi Murmu will deliver an address. The President’s speech is anticipated to provide insights into the government’s priorities and the direction it aims to take during this critical period.

The session is expected to cover a range of pressing issues, including economic revival, healthcare infrastructure, and national security. The government’s handling of the ongoing challenges, coupled with the promise of a comprehensive budget post-election, will likely be at the forefront of discussions.

As the nation gears up for the upcoming parliamentary elections, the stage is set for a dynamic and potentially contentious budget session. The outcomes of these deliberations will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in shaping the political landscape in the months to come.
