In a dramatic turn of events on Tuesday morning, a high-stakes encounter unfolded between the Counter Intelligence Police Amritsar and alleged gangsters in Ghariala town, Tarn Taran district. The operation was initiated based on a tip-off, indicating the presence of an individual in possession of illegal weapons and drugs, planning to supply near the border area.
The counter-intelligence team laid a trap and began chasing a white Swift car linked to the suspected gangster. The pursuit escalated when the gangster, speeding at a high velocity, encountered dense fog near the railway gate close to village Kariyala. Subsequently, the gangster’s car toppled into the fields, setting the stage for a tense confrontation.
As the gangster emerged from the overturned car, a hail of gunfire erupted between the fugitive and the pursuing police. Despite the exchange of bullets, the accused managed to evade capture by exploiting the cover provided by the thick fog. The intense encounter left the area near the railway gate in a state of chaos.
