Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Maharashtra on Thursday was canceled due to heavy rain in Pune, officials confirmed. The Prime Minister was expected to inaugurate or lay the foundation stones for several development schemes worth Rs 20,900 crore during this visit. These projects were aimed at enhancing infrastructure and public services in the region.
One of the key highlights of the visit was the anticipated inauguration of the Pune Metro. PM Modi was set to flag off the metro service between Zilla Adalat and Servgate stations, which is a major step in improving public transport in the city. The new metro line was expected to reduce traffic congestion and provide a faster commuting option for Pune’s residents.
However, due to the inclement weather and safety concerns, the visit was called off. Heavy rainfall has affected various parts of Pune, making it challenging to proceed with the planned events. Local authorities will work to reschedule the Prime Minister’s visit, and updates on the new date will be shared once the situation improves.
This cancellation is part of the government’s commitment to prioritizing public safety amid challenging weather conditions.
