In a significant development, the ongoing budget session of Parliament has been extended by one day, with the new conclusion date set for February 10. This decision was jointly announced by Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
Rajya Sabha Chairman Dhankhar informed the Upper House that the extension was unanimously agreed upon during a working advisory committee meeting held on Tuesday. Leaders from all political parties present in the meeting concurred on extending the Rajya Sabha sitting until February 10. It was specified that on the extended day, neither zero hour nor question hour proceedings would take place.
In a parallel development in the Lok Sabha, Speaker Om Birla revealed that the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs proposed the extension of the 15th session of the 17th Lok Sabha until February 10. The proposal aimed to facilitate the resolution of essential government work. The decision was made apparent as the Question Hour concluded in the Lok Sabha.
This extension comes at a crucial juncture in the parliamentary session, allowing additional time for addressing critical legislative matters and ensuring the completion of essential government tasks.
