The Ministry of Panchayati Raj is set to introduce a weather forecasting service specifically for Gram Panchayats, starting tomorrow, Thursday. The initiative is being launched in collaboration with the India Meteorological Department (IMD). According to a statement released by the Ministry today, the service will provide Gram Panchayats with detailed weather forecasts for the next five days.
This new service will allow Gram Panchayats to access hourly updates on the local weather. Such real-time information will be highly beneficial for farmers and other rural communities across the country, enabling them to make informed decisions regarding agricultural activities. Farmers will be able to plan their sowing, irrigation, and harvesting schedules more effectively by relying on timely and accurate weather data.
By providing localized weather forecasts, the Panchayati Raj Ministry aims to strengthen rural communities’ resilience against unpredictable weather conditions, such as storms, heavy rainfall, or droughts. This initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to improve rural development and support the livelihoods of people living in villages.
The service is expected to have a direct and positive impact on agriculture, helping farmers increase productivity while reducing potential losses due to adverse weather conditions.
