In the second match of the Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup held yesterday, the Pakistan women’s cricket team defeated Sri Lanka by 31 runs to mark a successful start to their campaign.
Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first, posting a total of 116 runs before being bowled out in their allotted 20 overs. Despite a few early setbacks, the Pakistani batters fought back with some crucial contributions in the middle order. Sri Lankan bowlers kept things tight, but Pakistan still managed to put up a challenging total on the scoreboard.
Chasing 117 for victory, Sri Lanka struggled against Pakistan’s disciplined bowling attack. The Pakistani bowlers applied pressure from the very first over, restricting the Sri Lankan batters from scoring freely. As a result, Sri Lanka managed only 85 runs for 9 wickets in their 20 overs, falling well short of the target. Pakistan’s bowling attack, led by accurate pace and spin, ensured that Sri Lanka couldn’t build any solid partnerships.
With this 31-run victory, Pakistan women’s team has started the T20 World Cup on a winning note, showcasing strong bowling and teamwork. Their confident performance sets the stage for more competitive outings in the upcoming matches.
