In a vehement condemnation of the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal, the elected Chief Minister of Delhi, opposition leaders have rallied together in solidarity. Kejriwal’s arrest has sparked outrage, with critics denouncing it as a targeted assault on democracy. Leaders have expressed concern over the selective targeting of opposition figures, particularly during the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) period.
Prominent figures within the opposition have extended their support to Kejriwal, with personal outreach to his family. The arrest comes amidst a backdrop of heightened political tensions, with allegations of biased targeting against opposition leaders.
In response to these developments, the INDIA alliance has announced plans to meet with the Election Commission to voice their objections. The meeting aims to address concerns regarding the treatment of opposition leaders and the preservation of democratic principles.
Representatives from various political parties, including the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC), have been designated to participate in the crucial discussions with the Election Commission. The outcome of these deliberations is anticipated to have significant implications for the ongoing political landscape.
