The National Investigation Agency (NIA) today conducted simultaneous raids at 12 locations across West Bengal, targeting areas with alleged Maoist connections. The raids took place in North 24 Parganas district—including Netaji Nagar, Panihati, Barrackpore, and Sodepur—as well as in Asansol in West Bardhaman district. The operation led to the deaths of two women and their accomplices, suspected of having links to Maoist activities.
Sources reported that these women had allegedly used funds received from the Maoists to expand their network across Eastern India. The purpose of the raids was to uncover the role these individuals were playing in the larger Maoist organization. The West Bengal Police’s Special Task Force (STF) also assisted the NIA in the operation.
The raids highlight the ongoing efforts by Indian authorities to clamp down on Maoist activities, which continue to be a major security concern in certain parts of the country. Officials stated that the crackdown is part of a larger initiative to dismantle Maoist networks operating in the region. The operation has raised concerns among local communities, while authorities emphasize their commitment to maintaining law and order and curbing extremist activities.
