The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a charge sheet against six individuals, including Pakistan-based Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) leader Wadhwa Singh, in connection with the murder of a Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader in Nangal, Punjab, earlier this year.
On April 13, Prabhakar, also known as Vikas Baga, was shot dead in his confectionery shop in Nangal town, Rupnagar district, by terrorists linked to BKI. The NIA, which took over the case on May 9, revealed an international conspiracy behind the murder.
Among the six charged, two are absconding, while three have been arrested. The arrested individuals—Mandeep Kumar, Gurpreet Ram, and Surinder Kumar—are from Nawanshahr, Punjab. The NIA has charged them under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), Indian Penal Code (IPC), and Arms Act.
Wadhwa Singh, along with Harjit Singh and Kulbir Singh, who are living in Germany, provided arms, ammunition, and funds to execute the murder. The NIA confirmed that Wadhwa Singh orchestrated the killing from Pakistan, directing his associates to carry out the terror attack. This investigation highlights the cross-border involvement of BKI in Punjab’s criminal activities.
