The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has lost its majority in the Rajya Sabha following a reduction in the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) seat count. The BJP now holds 86 seats, leaving the NDA 12 seats short of the 113 required for a majority. This shift comes after the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) withdrew its support, costing the NDA nine crucial seats. With the BJD’s exit, the NDA’s seat count stands at 101, significantly impacting their influence in the upper house of Parliament.

The loss of majority complicates the NDA’s ability to pass legislation smoothly, as they will need to secure support from other parties or independent MPs to reach the majority mark. The BJD’s decision to withdraw support is seen as a strategic move that could alter the balance of power in the Rajya Sabha. Political analysts predict that this development will lead to intensified negotiations and alliances within the house.

For the BJP and its allies, this new challenge will require reevaluation of their legislative strategies. The opposition parties may see this as an opportunity to push their agendas more forcefully, potentially leading to a more dynamic and contentious parliamentary session ahead.
