In just two weeks, 40,000 Indians have applied for Australia’s new Working Holiday Maker visa program, which offers only 1,000 spots. The program is aimed at young adults aged 18 to 30, allowing them to stay in Australia for one year. They can study, work, and explore the country. The visa was introduced as part of efforts to strengthen ties between India and Australia.
Australia’s Minister of State for Migration, Matt Thistlevet, highlighted the overwhelming response as a positive sign for the relationship between the two nations. The application process, which began on October 1, will remain open until the end of the month. Candidates will be randomly selected through a visa ballot.
This visa provides an opportunity for Indian youth to experience Australian life while contributing to its workforce. Those selected will be able to move to Australia next year under the program. It marks a significant step in building stronger cultural and economic connections between both countries.
