Amid the ongoing political crisis in Manipur, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and North East in-charge Sambit Patra met Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday morning. The meeting lasted for some time, but the details of their discussions remain undisclosed.
Following the meeting, Patra proceeded to a hotel, where he is expected to meet BJP MLAs. His visit comes at a crucial time when the state is facing a leadership crisis after the resignation of Chief Minister N Biren Singh on February 9. Singh stepped down amid the caste-based violence that has gripped the northeastern state for months.
With the political uncertainty in Manipur, the BJP is actively working to find a solution. The party leadership is expected to discuss possible replacements for the Chief Minister’s position and ways to restore stability in the state.
Reports suggest that the BJP is considering several names for the top post, but no official announcement has been made yet. Meanwhile, the opposition has also criticized the ruling party for failing to control the violence and ensure governance in the troubled state.
The situation in Manipur remains tense, and all eyes are on the BJP’s next move. It is expected that more meetings and discussions will take place before a final decision is reached regarding the new leadership. The people of Manipur are waiting for clarity on the state’s political future.
