In a thrilling IPL match at Wankhede Stadium, the Lucknow Supergiants secured a victory against the Mumbai Indians by 18 runs. Despite this win, both teams have been eliminated from the playoff race, marking a disappointing end to their respective campaigns.
The match began with Mumbai Indians’ captain Hardik Pandya winning the toss and opting to bowl first. Lucknow Supergiants’ captain K.L. Rahul led his team to a formidable total, thanks to his explosive innings of 55 runs and a spectacular 75-run knock by Nicholas Puran. The duo’s batting prowess helped Lucknow amass a massive score of 214 runs for the loss of six wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Chasing a challenging target of 215, Mumbai Indians faced an uphill battle. Opener Rohit Sharma gave the team a strong start with a blazing innings of 68 runs off 38 balls. Naman Dhir also played a commendable innings, scoring 56 runs off 26 balls. Despite their efforts, Mumbai fell short, managing to score only 196 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs.
