Sandeep Dhand Ludhiana
In a major development, Sandeep Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College, has been found giving ‘misleading’ answers during a polygraph test and layered voice analysis. Ghosh was arrested by the CBI on September 2 in connection with financial irregularities at the hospital. The Federal Bureau of Investigation later added evidence-tampering charges against him.
Officials stated that a report by the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in New Delhi revealed that Ghosh’s answers on crucial matters related to the case, including a rape and murder incident, were deceptive. The polygraph test results themselves cannot be used as evidence in court, but they may help the CBI gather further admissible evidence.
The CBI report alleges that Ghosh was informed about the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at 9:58 am on August 9 but delayed reporting it to the police. It is claimed that Ghosh only made a vague complaint through the Medical Superintendent-Vice Principal later, despite the victim being declared dead by 12:44 pm.
Rather than promptly filing an FIR, a theory of suicide was introduced, which investigators believe is unlikely due to the visible external injuries on the victim’s lower body. Ghosh reportedly contacted Tala Police Station in-charge, Abhijit Mondal, at 10:03 am and a lawyer at 1:40 pm, while a case of unnatural death was filed at 11:30 pm. General Diary Entry 542 states the victim was found unconscious, but a doctor had already declared her dead.
