Actress Kangana Ranaut has expressed her frustration over the censorship imposed on her upcoming film, Emergency, calling it “disheartening and unfair.” She pointed out that while her film is being censored, OTT platforms are allowed to show violence and nudity without any restrictions. Emergency is scheduled for release on September 6, but the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has not yet issued the necessary certificate, putting the release in doubt.
Kangana compared her film to the Netflix series IC814: The Kandahar Hijack, arguing that films based on historical events face stricter censorship, while content with violence and nudity on streaming platforms goes unchecked. She also criticized Anubhav Sinha’s show IC814…, which she claims portrays the hijackers of an Air India flight in a controversial manner.
According to sources, Emergency may not release this Friday as planned, as the filmmakers have not yet received the U/A certificate from the CBFC. It is rumored that new edits are being demanded every day, possibly due to external pressure. Kangana is reportedly fighting to protect the integrity of her film.
