Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) MLA Kalpana Soren criticized the BJP-led central government, accusing it of focusing on Jharkhand’s rich mines and mineral resources. Speaking at a rally in Garhwa, she alleged that the central government treats Jharkhand like a “stepmother.”
Soren stated that major leaders from the Center frequently visit Jharkhand with an eye on its natural resources. She claimed that the central government extracts valuable resources through mining but has failed to pay the state its rightful dues.
The JMM-led Jharkhand government has been demanding Rs 1.36 crore in unpaid dues from mining companies for several months. According to Kalpana Soren, Chief Minister Hemant Soren has repeatedly asked for the dues, but the state has yet to receive payment. She emphasized that if Jharkhand had received the funds, it would have significantly boosted the state’s development.
Her statements reflect growing tensions between the state and central governments over the distribution of resources and the financial support Jharkhand is entitled to.
