Justice Jumaymalya Bagchi of the Calcutta High Court has been appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court. The announcement was made by Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal on ‘X’ after the Supreme Court Collegium recommended his name on March 6.
Born on October 3, 1966, Justice Bagchi began his judicial career when he was appointed as a judge of the Calcutta High Court on June 27, 2011. With his new role in the Supreme Court, he will serve for over six years, during which he is also expected to hold the position of Chief Justice.
