Jammu and Kashmir Records Over 65% Voter Turnout in Final Election Phase

More than 65 percent of voters turned out for the third and final phase of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. According to the Election Commission’s website, 65.65 percent of votes were cast across 40 assembly constituencies spread over seven districts. Udhampur saw the highest voter turnout, with 72.91 percent, while Baramulla recorded the lowest at 55.73 percent.

This voter turnout marks an increase from the previous phases, reflecting growing participation. In the first phase, voter turnout stood at 61.38 percent, and in the second phase, it was 57.31 percent. Earlier in the day, by 5 pm, 65.48 percent of votes had already been cast.

Of the 40 assembly seats contested in the third phase, 24 are in the Jammu division, and 16 are in the Kashmir Valley. In this phase, a total of 415 candidates are in the electoral fray, with 387 male and 28 female candidates vying for victory.

The increased voter turnout suggests growing public interest and engagement in the democratic process. This phase marks the conclusion of the elections, and now all eyes are on the results, which will determine the new representatives of Jammu and Kashmir.
