A group of Indian nationals deported from the United States has reached Panama, and the Panamanian government has informed Indian authorities about their arrival. The Indian mission in Panama, along with embassies in Nicaragua and Costa Rica, is coordinating with local officials to ensure their safety and well-being.

The embassies shared this update on ‘X’ but did not specify the number of Indians who have arrived in Panama. The group is part of the 299 migrants sent to Panama by the US government as part of its deportation policy. Panama’s President, Jose Raul Mulino, had earlier agreed to allow the country to act as a ‘bridge’ for deportees.

The Indian embassies posted, “Panama authorities have informed us that a group of Indian nationals from the US has arrived in Panama. They are safe and are being accommodated in a hotel with all necessary facilities. The embassy team has sought permission to access them. We are working with the Panamanian government to ensure their safety.”

So far, a total of 333 Indians have been repatriated from the US in three separate flights. The US administration has been implementing strict deportation policies, vowing to send back millions of undocumented migrants.
