Indian and Chinese troops are expected to exchange sweets tomorrow on Diwali at various border posts along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), following a tradition where security forces greet each other on significant occasions. While the exact locations for the exchange haven’t been confirmed, eastern Ladakh is one of the likely sites.
Meanwhile, sources have stated that Indian and Chinese forces have completed the process of disengagement from the contested regions of Damchok and Depsang in eastern Ladakh. Following this withdrawal, patrolling is expected to resume soon, marking a step towards stability in the area.
Chinese Ambassador Shu Feihong highlighted the importance of the recent meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping, held on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia. This meeting reportedly addressed the border situation and encouraged a phased implementation of troop withdrawal from disputed areas, according to Chinese officials.
The United States has also welcomed these efforts to reduce tensions along the India-China border, supporting the phased withdrawal as a positive move for regional stability.
