India today firmly rejected Pakistan’s criticism of the Wakf Amendment Act, calling Islamabad’s comments “motivated and baseless.” The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) made it clear that Pakistan has no right to comment on India’s internal matters.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that instead of preaching to others, Pakistan should focus on its own poor track record when it comes to protecting the rights of minorities. He emphasized that the comments made by Pakistan regarding the law passed by the Indian Parliament were completely unfounded and politically motivated.
“We strongly reject the motivated and baseless remarks made by Pakistan about the Wakf Amendment Act passed by the Indian Parliament,” Jaiswal said in response to media queries.
He added that India is a democratic country governed by the rule of law, and its Parliament has full authority to pass laws that are in the interest of its citizens. Pakistan’s attempt to interfere in India’s internal affairs is unacceptable and should not be taken seriously.
The spokesperson also pointed out the irony in Pakistan commenting on minority rights, as the country itself has faced global criticism for mistreatment and persecution of minorities, including Hindus, Christians, and Sikhs.
The Wakf Amendment Act, recently passed by the Indian Parliament, has sparked some protests within the country. However, the Indian government has clarified that the law aims to ensure better transparency and administration of Wakf properties.
India has urged Pakistan to look inward and take serious steps to improve the human rights conditions of its own people, instead of spreading false narratives about India on international platforms.
